[22:44] * szzzt is in shock
[22:45] * szzzt just saw the current story by her favoritest mangaka evar, a series so obscure it is nearly impossible to find even in Japan, volume 1 for sale in barnes and noble
[22:45] <szzzt> curse you tokyopop
[22:46] <szzzt> now it will become the next nay-roo-toe
[22:47] <szzzt> people will think that...
[22:47] <szzzt> ...the characters speak with...
[22:47] <szzzt> ...four ellipses in...
[22:47] <szzzt> ...every line, because tokyopop typesetters thought that was good...
[22:48] <szzzt> but on the other hand, someone might write a fanfic
[22:48] * szzzt is cheered by the thought of Silver Diamond fanfic
[22:53] <szzzt> I wish they had translated it better ;_;
Devious Comments
I have conflicting feelings as well.
I need to re-read it and figure out who I would write fanfic about, were I to write Silver Diamond fanfic. The Ayame prince, now that he's interesting?
But I haven't been writing fic, because I've discovered rping.
How are things going?

"I learned about exaggeration.... It was all my teacher ever talked about. We had like ten thousand tests on it, and the teacher would kill you if you didn't spell it right."
I didn't buy it because it cost $10 which is more than I wanted to pay for a volume I have already, but I did an ultra-quick flip-through. I need to go back and look more closely to see how they handled the tricky-to-translate parts like Kou playing with the disctionary. For the names they went whole-hog with a 2-3 page translator's note in the back of the book, which they implied would cover different words every volume. That was sorta neat since they included people's names in kanji to point out the repeated characters.
However, throughout the book wherever an utterance is broken into several sub-bubbles, they used both trailing and leading ellipses! OMG it drove me batty and I only read like 3 pages! Rakan sounded like "Chigusa, don't tell me... ...you think so little of me... ...as to believe I wouldn't care if you die?!!" Argh. I read double ellipses as pauses, but that's a sentence he's clearly not taking two long pauses in the middle of.. and it's done to every single sentence. Argh. I can't believe that's the standard typesetting practice at Tokyopop. Is it just that SD has an awful lot of sentences broken between bubbles, so they couldn't handle it and went nuts? That is what I shall assume.
I went and checked ff.net for Silver Diamond fics, and there were three, which is 300% more than a month ago. Cool.
I couldn't think of anything I'd write for Silver Diamond -- I'm more interested in where the real story is headed -- although there's a couple I would write for Koori. I wonder if Tokyopop has plans to pick up Koori as well, if SD sells well? Hmm.
What is rping? Role-playing? Did you find a group over there? o_o
Three is a start. XD
No, I meant online roleplaying, on DA...rping was never something that I was interested in before, but I joined on a whim and now it's my new hobby to which I'm highly addicted.
There are a bunch of anime- and game-based rps springing up on DA. I was tempted to apply for Haku in the Naruto rp, but it would be too much of a time commitment on top of my current account. I'm in the DGray rp (of course) at ~DGMRP-DA. Actually, I was going to ask you if you're interested in joining, because the current Rabi / Lavi rper will be giving up her account. The rp is pretty crazy, and sometimes people are ooc or don't use capitalization, but it's SO much fun. There are a lot of exciting plotlines now, too. Also, we need more active Exorcists. We have like ONE Exorcist (Kanda), and my character is constantly getting injured.
It would also be a good way to keep in touch, because I'm on there a lot of the time. XD
But I understand if you're not interested--plus it's kind of a time commitment.
I'll talk to you later--hm, I still have to see if there's Koucha Ouji used across the street...

Hm, that's right, I still must procure some chocolate to exchange for teh manga...
Don't mail anything, because guess what--I'm coming home for Christmas. I'm so excited. I'm arriving on 12/23 and returning on 1/4. I want to spend a few days in Seattle as well. Do you have any days off?
出来ればカミーにすごく会いたい!一緒に喫茶店に行ったりアニメを見たりしましょう。連絡してね。
I'll try to acquire some Koucha before that time. XD

I believe I have all those days off. Well, starting noon on 12/24. I think I am spoken for for Christmas evening as well, but I'm sure you'll be with fambly that night, desho?
Chocolate shall be acquired! Animes shall be watched! Perhaps pictures shall be finished! I am liking this plan!
I haven't made final plans yet, but if I could go back to Seattle on 1/2, we'd have at least one full day together...yes, get chocolate and anime! We'll have to hit several coffeeshops as well! You have my US home phone number, right? I'll note you with it just in case.
Oh, and I got volumes 2-4 of Koucha Ouji across the street. You want me to get 5-6 as well?
I'll see you soon, I hope!

And of course hang out on any other days you are in town. I have stockpiled some mecha to make fun of, oh yesh. I also have a Kung Fu friend currently in the throes of love for Naruto and Hikaru no Go--I am working on convincing her and her fella that Princess Tutu is teh awesome, mostly by showing them some of everything I have. If they are around, it might be fun to all hang out together.
I will be very happy to receive however many volumes of Koucha Ouji you have ^_^
